Is Alberta Calling?

There are so many reasons why a Relocation to Alberta makes sense. If you are considering moving here from another province or country, this decision is not something to take lightly. Extensive research, careful thought, diligent planning is critical.

A cross-country relocation might be difficult to reverse if you find Alberta isn't what you'd expected. If you currently live in a high-priced city, and sell your home to purchase a more affordable home here in Alberta, you could be in a predicament if you decide to return home. You'd be selling your affordable home in Alberta to purchase in a more expensive market. You could find yourself buying a less desirable home than the one you initially sold. Moving to Alberta makes sense for a lot of people, so make sure it makes sense for you.

Alberta has been "calling" for several years now. There has been a large push from the Alberta government to increase immigration from other parts of Canada, and from July 1, 2022, to July 1, 2023 alone, the population of Alberta has grown by an astounding 184,000 people. The current Provincial government plans to double the population from 5 million Albertans to 10 million by 2050, see HERE

I am a New Albertan. My relocation made sense for me, and it was the best decision I've ever made. However, my move was planned years before the "Alberta is Calling" campaign began.  The deciding factor was strictly because of how much my family loved Alberta and Western Canada. The financial benefits were an added bonus, but it was not the primary reason for my Relocation. I believe my family and I were meant to be Albertans, and we felt more at home here than my birthplace in Ontario. We had visited Alberta annually for many years, in all different seasons, and traveled all over Alberta and the West Coast. We knew exactly what to expect when we moved here, and it was perfect for us. We planned our Relocation meticulously, and when our one-way flight landed in Calgary, this was not an exciting new adventure; We were finally home.

Do not get me wrong. The dream of homeownership has slipped away for many, and moving to Alberta can offer people the chance to become homeowners and improve their financial future. But life is more than just having a house. You need to be happy where you live. You need to know this province, more than just the pretty pictures and affordable homes. It's perfect for my family and I, but it might not be right for you.

If you've never been to Alberta, but are considering if moving here is right for your family, I strongly urge you to visit first! Explore! Do touristy things! Whatever you do, do NOT make your first trip to Alberta a house hunting trip! HERE is TripAdvisor's list of the top things to do and see in Alberta in 2024. Check them out AND explore the towns and cities you're thinking about buying in.

I always tell buyer clients, "you're not just buying the house, you're buying the community."  With a Relocation to Alberta, you're not just buying a house, you're buying a new life.

If you've never been here, you'll learn that Alberta has a totally different lifestyle than other parts of the County. I believe it is very important to experience it as a visitor before deciding to become an Albertan. Living in Alberta is something special, and it needs to be appreciated. Things move slower here. We stop to smell the roses. We help our neighbours. We help strangers. Family comes first. The Alberta way of life should be preserved. Leave the hustle and grind mindset and your driving habits in your home province. If you're ready to appreciate life the way life was meant to be lived, let's chat.
